How is a Timestamp represented on Mac OS and Windows?
Convert a UNIX, Macintosh, and FileMaker Pro timestamp number into date/time and vice versa
A UNIX timestamp is a number that represents the seconds passed since 1970-01-01 00:00:00. This format is also used on Windows.
On Mac OS X and 9 the count starts at 1904-01-01 00:00:00.
The FileMaker timestamp data format represents the number of seconds since 0001-01-01 00:00:00 with a range of up to 4000-12-31 23:59:59.999999
Don't let yourself be fooled by the high precision the timestamp is shown in the FileMaker Pro 8.5 Help. There is currently no means to set the fractions of a second as real time from within FileMaker. Let's put it this way: these fractions are "tolerated" by the format and the calculation engine, but the fractions are never set, only the integer part is used.
Note: Dates out of the UNIX range (< 1901-12-13 20:45:52 or > 2038-01-19 03:14:08 UTC) may show invalid values due to the use of available PHP functions.
